AWS Introduces AWS Space Accelerator for Space Tech Start-Ups

March 30, 2022

As the pace of innovation continues not only in space exploration but throughout the global aerospace industry, organisations continue to turn to the cloud for the speed, agility, and innovation required for complex space missions.

We’re seeing in the commercial space industry that by leveraging the cloud for future space missions, even small businesses can have a big impact. As a result, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced today the start of the next AWS Space Accelerator.

AWS, in collaboration with Seraphim, is offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in the space industry. The companies plan to help space startups with business development and investment advice. Participants for this program will be chosen by AWS and Seraphim for a four-week training session.

“Helping startups succeed, from inception to IPO, has been an integral part of Amazon Web Services since our beginning,” said Sandy Carter, vice-president of partners and programs at AWS.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched two accelerator programs to assist startups in addressing some of the world’s most pressing cloud challenges.

2022 AWS Space Accelerator

The Amazon Web Services Space Accelerator is a four-week technical, business, and mentorship program for global space startups. The second year of the AWS Space Accelerator is dedicated to assisting innovative startups from around the world who want to use AWS to power their space missions. The deadline for proposals is April 15, 2022, and the application period begins on 29 March 2022.

AWS welcomes innovative ideas from across the industry that use advanced cloud-based technologies to reimagine solutions for both government and commercial space missions. The program also provides opportunities for collaboration and networking with other participating startups. Along with AWS customers, and AWS Partner Network (APN) members seeking technological solutions to difficult space problems.

AWS Sustainable Cities Accelerator

The AWS Sustainable Cities Accelerator, which was launched in collaboration with Freshwater Advisors and Public Spend Forum, is a virtual six-week program focused on the rapid growth of cleantech innovations. The program will focus on mentoring startups on how to use advanced cloud-based technologies to innovate and accelerate their mission growth.

Programs Will Provide the Following Benefits:

  • Cloud infrastructure and advanced services can be purchased with AWS Activate credits worth up to $100,000.
  • Opportunities for collaboration with AWS customers and AWS Partner Network members.
  • Domain and technical subject matter experts provide specialised AWS training and mentoring.
  • AWS and accelerator program collaborators provide advice on business development and fundraising.
  • Networking opportunities with other startup founders facing similar challenges

Final Thoughts

The primary goal of this program is to provide guidance, technical and maintenance training, and resources to space start-ups all over the world that use AWS. According to Amazon Web Services, the companies have established a number of qualifying missions. This includes earth observation, electronics and robotics, spacecraft launch and delivery, spacecraft hardware and software, launch manufacturing and launch operations, and others. Alkye Services, as a technology partner, believes in incorporating the most recent technological trends so that our partners and clients can stay ahead of the competition.
